Educational organization support stems from company’s Tallahassee Solar utility scale PV project
MIAMI, FL (November 30, 2017) – Origis Energy, Powering the Solar Revolution with custom clean energy solutions for utility, commercial and public sector clients, today announced a $25,000 donation to the Southern Scholarship Foundation (SSF) based in Tallahassee, Fl.
“This donation will help SSF support business students at Florida State University and Florida A&M University,” said Natacha Standaert, manager of the company’s Origis Energy Foundation program. “By supporting high achieving but financially challenged students through its innovative housing and cooperative living program, SSF is encouraging the development of tomorrow’s business leaders. A goal we wholeheartedly support.”
SSF owns or operates a total of 27 scholarship houses throughout Florida, housing over 450 students and has assisted more than 8,700 deserving students from diverse backgrounds since its inception in 1955.
The Origis Energy gift stems from the company’s Tallahassee Solar project and its commitment to making lasting contributions to the communities in which it works. Tallahassee Solar is the first solar farm located in Florida’s capital city and will serve City of Tallahassee utility customers. Constructed at the Tallahassee International Airport, owned and operated by the City of Tallahassee, the 20-megawatt (MW) solar farm will be one of the largest in the state, capable of producing 43 million kilowatt (kWh) hours of electricity. The photovoltaic (PV) system is nearing completion with over 200,000 solar panels. It is the first in a unique community solar subscription program, which city officials recently announced is fully subscribed.
“The City of Tallahassee takes pride in its long history of environmental stewardship on many fronts,” Tallahassee City Commissioner Nancy Miller said. “As we make strides to expand the use of solar energy, we are pleased to partner with Origis Energy to extend that stewardship, and we appreciate their commitment to making positive change in our community.”
Amber R. Tynan, Director of Development for SSF said, “Together the City of Tallahassee and Origis Energy are making a profound difference for residents with clean energy generated from the sun. We are so very pleased that Origis Energy is extending that goodwill to meet the needs of deserving college students through our long standing cooperative living program.”
Tallahassee City Commissioner Nancy Miller and Southern Scholarship Foundation (SSF) Board Members, leadership and student representatives gather to receive a $25,000 donation from Origis Energy USA as presented by Natacha Standaert, manager of the company’s Origis Energy Foundation program.
